In December 2014, the Australian Government initiated a review of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
This fulfils the Government’s requirements under the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority Act 2008 (the Act) to conduct a review within six years of the Act’s commencement.
The Review assessed ACARA’s ongoing role and functions against the aims and objectives described in its charter. It examined ACARA’s structure, governance, delivery and processes.
The Review of ACARA report was informed by considerable input provided by stakeholders. Their views and suggestions were canvassed about current arrangements and possible future directions for ACARA.
The final Review report, including all recommendations, was endorsed by the Education Council at its meeting on 18 September 2015.
The Review’s recommendations range across curriculum, assessment, reporting and governance of ACARA.
